Why I Am Thankful

Thanksgiving allows for a time of reflection. Yes, I am thankful for the time of getting together with family and friends and sharing a time of food and fellowship.

I am thankful for my wife. God blessed me beyond words when He put her in my life. We have gone through so many things both good and bad together. I cannot imagine sharing this life with anyone else but her. She is my best friend. She sees my struggles, shortcomings, and fears; and she still loves me. She is my greatest encourager. She brings joy into my world. She is the love of my life.

I am thankful for my son. The last 7 months have been amazing. He has opened my eyes to new things in life that can only be seen from a dad’s point of view. I am in awe that God would allow me to be his dad. The joy he has brought me is only overshadowed by the joy I find in Christ.

I am thankful for God’s grace. I am the greatest sinner that I know. I know that my heart is deceitful and my flesh desires to lead me in a direction that God does not want me to go. Grace is amazing in that I find forgiveness when I go to God in confession and repentance. God restores fellowship with me and I am reminded that I am His child, a saint. Grace is so much more than I deserve and I am thankful that God does bestow that grace on me.

Oh yeah, and then there’s pumpkin pie.
