The Checklist Is Dead

Ceremonial law from Moses’ time no longer applies. Since Christ has come, the ceremonial law has been done away with. Some people wanted to continue with keeping the distinction/laws/traditions, “This is the way it has always been done.”

The ceremonial celebrations/distinctions were a shadow of things to come. There is no value or worth to them. Those things are no longer useful. They have been done away with.

Legalism is a set of rules. The dreaded checklist. You can be a great rule follower and be just as far away from God as you have ever been.

It looked like modesty and humility to worship angels or believe they were mediators between people and God. We do not worship angels. That would be taking that which is honorable and rightly belongs to God (our worship) and bestowing/giving it to created things (angels). This rule/man made notion is not biblical. Jesus did not point to angels for us to focus our worship on. Our worship is to be focused on God. Following such false teachings is a result of believing lies invented by men and selfish pride. Pride is at the root of many selfish desires and sins.

People that call themselves Christians and “play church” disclaim Christ. This is spitting in the face of Jesus. These people refuse to acknowledge Christ as Lord & Savior and refuse His work on the cross as sufficient.

Christ is the head of the body. The body cannot live apart from the head.

Why follow the checklist?

These rules do nothing but mix corruption into your faith. They do nothing to help advance sanctification. They are of no benefit to your relationship with Christ. They look good on the outside but they do not help you kill sin.

1 Corinthians 6:12
1 Corinthians 9:24-27

Self control is a discipline that a disciple should constantly work on.
Don’t just fight sin…kill it.
