Not one of the people we talked about – Joseph, Hezekiah, or Job ever lost faith, never took focus off God, or accused God of anything. In fact, the Bible says that in all of Job’s struggles, he did not sin. Sometimes we get mad at God and want to blame him and we never realize thatwe are being tested.
*one-sided argument against God
Why argue with God? The best thing you can do in a test is read your Bible, fall on your knees and seek his face. No distractions. Just you and God.
Count it joy that you are being tested. What? There are only two ways you can come out of a test – Pass or Fail. I don’t want to fail and I don’t want to merely pass.
Job 23:10 I want to ace the test – I want to come out as gold.
TESTS BRING CHANGE
Change – Everyone in some way or another is resistant to change. But God calls for growth and growth brings change. God wants change so we change – We change our address, school, job, relationships, and churches. We change all of our outside stuff when all Godwants is for us to change our heart! We pray for God to change our parents, our boss, our friends and our church and the whole time we are talking about God sending a revival to our church. You cannot have a revival without first having a funeral. We have to die so we can be revived. We must decrease so God can increase. God wants to change us.
Joseph got out of prison and was overseer over the affairs of Egypt. Hezekiah had 15 years added onto his life Job was given back twice what was taken from him.
Jesus reminds us to take up our cross and follow him. That means to pick it up and carry it with us wherever we go. Tests are not the end. They are meant to conform us more into the likeness of Jesus Christ. Tests prepare us for certain things in our lives that we may not otherwise have been prepared for had we not gone through the test. The test is not what matters; it is how we come out of them that God is concerned with. May you come out purified like gold.
What tests are you going through where your only solution is to depend on God?
