Sermon Notes From Proverbs 10:1-4

Solomon’s son was a few french fries short of a Happy Meal.

Wisdom has been explained. – The contrast between wisdom and stupidity has been given in previous chapters of Proverbs.

As a member of your family – you represent the whole. Why is it that parents try to provide well for their children and it is taken for granted and unappreciated?

No child likes discipline but it is necessary for the child to learn. Proverbs 13:24

No parent wants to be the laughing stock of their peers nor do they desire to raise a child that is an embarrassment to the family.

The Bible says that children are a blessing from the Lord. Psalm 127:3-5

Children that rebel, intentionally disregard all forms of authority, and act stupid, rob their parents of a blessing. Children should not put their parents through needless stress. Children should not cause their parents to worry needlessly. Children should live in such a way that they give their parents every reason to trust them…AND NOT ABUSE THAT TRUST!

A wise child will cause parents to rejoice. A foolish child will cause parents regret and sorrow.

Children should not live in such a way as to provoke their parents to anger or cause them pain and suffering. They should learn to be wise and be a blessing to their parents.

A child’s relationship with their parents is similar to our relationship with God. God is our Heavenly Father and we are His children. We represent Christ. We are also subject to conviction and discipline when we step out of line and act out of character. Deuteronomy 8:5

God wants us to live our lives in full obedience to Him.
