Colossians 3:18, Proverbs 31, Ephesians 5:22-24
At first glance it would appear that for a woman to be a Proverbs 31 woman, she would need a S on her chest and a cape flowing in the wind. The woman in Proverbs 31 is a character type. It is not expected that any one woman will look exactly like this in all respects.
Proverbs 31 is a poem. The beginning of each quality or attribute is a different letter of the Hebrew alphabet. It is an acrostic.
Submit in Ephesians chapter 5 is not the same as obey. You are his wife, not his employee. Submission is a sign of respect. The submission of wives is not like the obedience children owe to parents. The submission for wives is like the submission the husband does as he submits to Christ. The submission is in reference to the ultimate leadership of the husband for the health and harmonious workings of the marriage relationship.
The husband is not the supreme dictator. It is easier for the wife to submit to her husband if she knows her husband is following Christ in complete and total obedience.
