Christ Is Your Life – Part 2

This is the second part of a two part series of sermon notes on Christ Is Your Life. If you missed the first blog post, you can read it here.

Culture burns into our minds what life is and what life is supposed to be like. We are supposed to fight for what is ours and claim that as ours. We are to excel and climb the ladder of success by trampling others who get in our way. Our culture has succeeded in influencing the church with the fairy tale of the American Dream. The American Dream is stupid.

The American Dream does not make sense. In society’s view, you are born, go to school, hopefully you go to college and you get a degree in some sort of field where you will be a benefit to society, from there you should get married and have a nice house with two cars, 3.5 kids, and a dog. You will work your whole life to pay for the stuff that you accumulate trying not to go into debt. You try to keep up with your neighbors and friends while also accumulating more stress.

The pursuit of stuff does not make one happy. The pursuit of Christ does. It is quite fine to find all of your enjoyment in Christ, the giver of eternal life.

There are many places in Scripture where we understand that real life comes by dying. Yes….dying. Dying to our self.

Colossians 3:3, Galatians 2:20, Colossians 2:20, 2 Corinthians 5:14

You are dead! Dead to sin. Dead to the things of this world. Dead to your self. Dead.

Dead people have no control over what happens to them.

Be dead to your self and ALIVE in Christ.
