FaithPoint – Be Diligent In Your Study

Acts 17:10-11 fascinate me. Luke writes about a church in the city of Berea.

What fascinates me the most is that this church did not just take Paul’s word for truth. Look at verse 11:

Now these Jews were more noble than those in Thessalonica; they received the word with all eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see if these things were so.

I am excited because Paul’s preaching drove this church to study the Bible for themselves.

Every Christian is a theologian. says that Theologian is:

A person versed in or engaged in the study of theology, esp Christian theology.

As a Christian you are a disciple. A disciple is a student. You are a student of God.

Study the Bible. Read it. Devour it. Immerse yourself in it.

I pray that studying the Bible would open the floodgates of communion with our Heavenly Father. I pray that your relationship with Him would grow deeper, and more intimate. I pray for the fire and passion inside you to be rekindled and that you are truly unashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

I pray that studying the Bible would drive you to see that God is the author of all truth. The Holy Spirit will use the Bible to rebuke, correct, change, convict, purge, and grow you.

I would like to introduce you to a few resources that can help you in your personal Bible study. These are my favorites.

  • This site is by the same people that put together the ESV study Bible. You can have the Bible read to you, follow different reading plans and they offer devotionals.
  • This site is a good tool because if you want to read the Bible in a different translation, you have that ability. They also offer reading plans and devotionals
  • This site can answer a ton of questions on theology as well as recommend other sites and books. If you are interested, they even have sermons available for download and you can plug those in your iPod and listen for your growth and God’s glory.
