One Word 2012

Last year I participated in the One Word 2011 campaign. The idea is that one word describes your year. What word encompasses everything that you want to happen in that year?

This year I have chosen a new word. My One Word for 2012 is PUSH.

Why Push? Simple.

I don’t want to be status quo. I don’t want to be average. I don’t want to be ordinary. I don’t want to be routine. Being pushed helps me to move along before I stagnate. Being pushed gets me out of my comfort zone. Being pushed helps to challenge me, set goals and through God’s grace, achieve them.

Push. I will have to push through my own limits and the limits that are set by those around me. I will have to push past other’s who think their way is better than God’s way.

I will push forwards. I have to push forwards. If I am not moving forwards than I am only moving backwards. Time does not stand still and there is much that God has given us to accomplish. I must push forwards. I have no desire to waste God’s time or mine.

Challenges and confrontations will come. Keep pushing. Battles will be both won and lost. Keep pushing. When the victory is won, keep pushing. When the victory slips through your hands, keep pushing.

* I want to be closer to God this year than last year, so I push.

* I want to be a better husband this year than last year, so I push.

* I want to be a better daddy this year than last year, so I push.

* I want to be a better pastor this year than last year, so I push.

* I want to be a better friend this year than last year, so I push.

I embrace change. I look forward to it. Change is constant. Change also helps me to not be complacent.
So, I will also push those around me. I will push them to better in all areas of their life. I hope that they are better this year than last year. I hope that they are closer to Christ this year than last year.

Be content with where God has you but also be on the edge of uncomfortable. Be on the tipping point of change.
Push. Never settle.

What is your word for 2012?
