Greater – A Review

Greater is written by Pastor Steven Furtick.

God has called us to live the life that Jesus came to give us. It is a full life and a joyful life. Too many times Christians live in the just getting by or the mediocre status quo. We like to live not by faith but by sight. We think that we do better when we can see where we are going or when we are in control of our circumstances.
Control is an illusion.
Furtick uses the prophet Elisha as an example of what a life completely surrendered to God looks like.
There is no such thing as half-hearted obedience. It is either all or nothing.
There is a misconception among believers that we have to achieve some goal, learn a new skill, go on three mission trips or do something fantastic before God can use us to accomplish his purposes. That is the farthest thing from the truth. God takes us right where we are and uses what we have to accomplish his purposes. You do not have to have a degree, there is no special class. It is just us and God.
There are some things that have to take place. You have to let go of the control that you thought you had over this life. You have to understand that your passion and desires will be all for Jesus…not this life. You have to as Furtick says, “Burn the plows.”
You can have a life of boldness and confidence. You do not have to settle for good enough.
God has called you to a life that is Greater.
