What do you believe?

No. Seriously. Do you really know what you believe?

Forget Peter Pan and thinking happy thoughts. Let’s get down to the core of you. When we get into everything that makes you who you are and deconstruct that, does what you say match up with what you do?

Do you believe something because you were fed it so long and you just heard it enough that you thought it was the truth?

Do you believe something because your parents, a teacher, professor, friend told you it was true?

Do you believe something because you have allowed the media through TV, magazines, websites and movies to shape your thinking?

What do you believe really?

What have you taken as blanket truth and never thought twice about it but have just come to accept it as fact?

What have you thought about and it did not sit well with you and you had to wrestle through it, research, read and study to figure out what you believe on a certain subject?

What do you believe about God?

I can tell you that it is not too difficult to tell what you believe about God.

Your beliefs determine your behavior. Let me break that down a little.

Your beliefs about God and who He is determine your behavior.

If you believe that God is hands off, distant, or even non-existent than that will be evident by how you live your life. That mindset leads you to believe that you are in control and that you do not have to take responsibility for your actions.

If you believe that God is all Sovereign, Holy, Righteous, Majestic, and Glorious, you will live like it. If Jesus is Lord of your life and you understand the gospel, than you understand that this life is not your own.

  • Your view of God determines what kind of employee you are.
  • Your view of God determines what kind of spouse you are.
  • Your view of God determines what kind of parent you are.
  • Your view of God determines what kind of friend you are.
  • Your view of God determines what kind of person you are.

Your beliefs determine your behavior.

I invite you to see that Jesus is everything the Bible says he is. Jesus came into this world as a baby born to a virgin mother. He grew up on this earth living a perfect and sinless life. He pointed people to God through his preaching, teaching, actions and life. He was crucified on a cross for our sins. Three days later, God raised him from the dead.

We should have a really big view of God.

Then, we will be free to live our lives in such a way that shows others that we believe God in his sovereignty is in control of this life and we are not. We can view God like a child views their daddy.

We can live in confidence, boldness and joy because we believe that God is everything the Bible says he is.
