Everything that God has given us is to be used for his glory. If you are like me, I am good stewarding some things and not so good at stewarding other things.
We all think of stewardship as being associated with money. That is true. Money is an area where we are to have responsible stewardship. The Bible tells us to be cheerful and generous. Selfishness and greed are not characteristics that a disciple of Jesus is supposed to have. Those are not part of the fruit of the Spirit.
Money is not the only area that we are to steward.
We are to steward our time. We all like to complain that we need more time in the day to more. In reality, we don’t actually need more time, we need to change. We need to change because we have a huge tendency to waste more time doing nothing than spending time being productive. When Jesus told us to go and make disciples and be his witnesses (Matthew 28, Acts 1) he wanted us to see the angst and urgency that comes with being a sent missionary to our culture. When it comes to being obedient, we do not need to waste the time we have sharing the gospel, love, hope, and compassion to the people in the cities in which we live.
This is one that not a lot of people like to talk about. I have heard many people harp on tattoos and alcohol but not the all you can eat buffet. Why? People are slaves to food.
You don’t believe me? Try fasting for 21 days. See what your body says to you about that.
I am not going to try and get you to eat better or to stop eating burgers and fries. I do not really care if you eat Lucky Charms or Pop Tarts or Waffle House for breakfast. Here is the bottom line.
The more unhealthy you are, the more you miss out on opportunities to be used to accomplish the work that God has for you to accomplish.
Everything we have, God gave to us to be used for his glory. We should want and desire to serve God in all areas of our lives.
Serve Jesus with joy. Serve Jesus with gladness. Serve Jesus with passion.
Serve Jesus well in all things.
