Notes for FaithPoint

FaithPoint Logo 1The text for this sermon is Proverbs 31. The title of this sermon is: The Proverbs 31 Woman – Disciple of Jesus.

The Proverbs 31 woman. She sounds too good to be true. She sounds like the world’s most efficient multitasker. It appears that she is constantly going and she never sleeps.

Why do most women have a love/hate relationship with the Proverbs 31 woman?

Proverbs 31:13-31

The Proverbs 31 woman is not perfect.

Proverbs 31 is the  journey of a woman who desires, craves to be more like her Lord and Savior, Jesus.

It does not matter if she is:

  • rich or poor
  • owns her own business or is a stay-at-home mom
  • she makes her own clothes or shops at Target

The Proverbs 31 woman is a woman of purpose. God created you to do the work that He wants you to accomplish. He created you for His purposes. You will not be truly satisfied until you step into the calling that God has placed on your life.

Here is the game changer:

The Proverbs 31 woman is not a goal to obtain. She is not a status that you have to achieve. You are already the Proverbs 31 woman. Why?

Because that is how God sees you.

Ephesians 2:1-6

Colossians 2:6

Colossians 3:3

Philippians 1:27

It is not the Proverbs 31 woman fault that most women have a love/hate relationship with her. The problem is not with the Bible. We are not seeking to make the Bible fit into our lives. We are seeking to have our lives shaped by the Bible.

The Bible is a story about Jesus. Your life is a smaller story that fits into a much bigger story.

The problem lies because most women do not see themselves the way God sees them.

If Jesus saved you, He has given you the Holy Spirit to live inside you and guide you to be more like Jesus in all of your life.

It is understandable that your old “self” is resistant to what Jesus wants to change in you. The Bible says that we need to be transformed by the renewing of our minds.

Your old “self” listens to the devil. It interjects into your mind thoughts of doubt, insecurity, unbelief etc.

You have to battle that unbelief.

What the Bible says about you is true. God loves you. Jesus saved you. He has placed you with Jesus in high, heavenly places. This place is not your home. Don’t get too comfortable here. You are on temporary assignment here. You have been chosen to carry a message that Jesus gave you.

Philippians 1:27 says, let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ. Let your manner of life be worthy of the message that Jesus has entrusted you to carry.

If you are having trouble wrapping your mind around how God sees you, ask Jesus to help you with your unbelief.

When you see yourself the way that Jesus sees you, that has the potential to change your life. It changes how you interact with your family, friends, and co-workers. It will change how you read your Bible and how you pray.

Walk in the calling that God has given you.

You are who God says you are because of what Jesus has done. God sees you as a saint, holy, righteous. You are positionally a Proverbs 31 woman. Whether or not you believe that does not change the fact that God has already deemed you a Proverbs 31 woman.

Ask Jesus to help you with your unbelief.

Walk in the calling that God has given you.

Live your life worthy of the manner of the message that Jesus has entrusted to you.
